e-Tunai Rakyat Program is a Budget 2020 initiative introduced by the government to encourage the use of cashless payments (e-Wallet) among Malaysians.
While eWallet is not considered as new technology or trend, there are still a huge percentage of Malaysians that are using cash payment for everyday transactions. The government wants this e-Tunai Rakyat program to use e-Wallet and moving forward to transitioning cash payment with cashless transactions method.
The government has allocated RM450 million to 15 million elligible Malaysians aged 18 years and above in 2020 with maximum income less than RM100,000 annually. Elligible Malaysians will be able to claim RM30 e-Wallet credit starting from 15 Januari 2020 and the program will end on 14th March 2020.
